Gateway Center at Bronx Terminal Market
Since we had met all of Target's milestones and turnover requirements in the construction of the 16-acre Bronx Terminal Market, Plaza was the company's natural choice for the fit-out of its new Bronx store. Further, since Target had experienced mixed success in New York City, it needed a construction partner that could capably navigate this unique market.
Build a new Target store with a 150,000-square foot sales floor, along with 25,000 square feet of storage and loading dock area, plus food services, a pharmacy, photo lab, and a complete refrigeration system for grocery cases. Every aspect of the project had to be assimilated into a strict corporate branding and project implementation structure.
Plaza ensured on-time delivery, and came in more than $1 million under budget, through careful planning in the pre-construction phase. We had bidders participate in Target's online procurement system, significantly lowering trade package costs. In managing the store's extensive pre-purchase package, we worked with every vendor to expedite the delivery schedule. Finally, we assisted in permit expediting, and advised the vendors on material requirements that are unique to the NYC market.
The store’s grand opening resulted in Plaza being awarded additional Target projects, including a store remodel in Levittown, NY and a new store construction in Flushing, NY.
