Swiss Re New Markets, a leader in the world of reinsurance and a
provider of specialized financial services for large corporations and
underwriters, selected Plaza Construction Corporation for the consolidation
of its New York offices into six floors at Park Avenue Plaza,
located at 55 East 52nd Street.
This project was recognized
by McGraw Hill's
New York Construction
News in its "Best of
1997 Awards" as one of
the highest quality construction
efforts for a
commercial renovation.
It is a highly detailed
space consistent with
the superior finishes
throughout Swiss Re’s
headquarters.
 As Construction Manager, Plaza provided comprehensive pre-construction
services including budget analysis, value engineering, constructability
review and schedule development. Plaza coordinated the
pre-purchase of long-lead items such as mechanical equipment, light
fixtures, ceiling systems, architectural woodwork, stone, glass and
many other special finishes for installation within a 22-week schedule.
The build-out included interconnecting stairs, food service preparation
facilities and executive dining areas, conference centers, private
offices, open plan workstations and office support space.
Plaza also coordinated the installation of sophisticated telecommunications,
data transmission and audio/visual equipment while maintaining
high quality finishes and detail.
