Hermès of Paris, Inc.
55 East 59th Street, New York, NY
Hermès of Paris, Inc., one of the world's leading designers of
scarves, ties, perfume, clothing, jewelry and leather goods, selected
Plaza Construction Corporation as Construction Manager for their US
headquarters relocation to 55 East 59th Street, the former home of
Christie's New York's North American headquarters.
Occupying a significant portion of the site was Christie's auction
hall; a grand two-story space that Plaza converted into two floors of
executive offices, conference
rooms and showroom. As a
result, significant square
footage was added to the
space and a staircase with
satin stainless steel handrails
with accompanying aircraft
cabling was built to connect
the two floors. Hermès' new
data center is housed in the
basement, servicing all of their
U.S. operations.
The elegant showroom is enhanced by sophisticated details such as
Amian specialty paint finish, curved wood ceilings, and walls with
radius flow bars, frosted glass walls, modular and cove lighting and
limestone flooring. Three unique custom made display types were
designed for the showroom: wood and glass cantilevered shelving
supported by a hidden structure, wood and glass standing displays
and metal and glass rolling display cases. The conference room has
wood and glass sliding doors and a custom architectural woodwork
audio visual unit.
