Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein
(DKW), the investment banking division
of Dresdner Bank, provides a
wide range of investment bank products
and services to European and
international clients including corporations,
institutions and governments.
DKW provides a full array of advisory
and capital markets products including
mergers & acquisitions, equity and
debt underwriting, sales and trading,
derivatives and research.
DKW selected Plaza Construction Corporation to manage the construction
of their new United States headquarters located at 1301 Avenue of the
Americas. This multi-phased project included trading facilities and support
on floors 35 and 36 and elegantly appointed corporate offices and
conference rooms on floors 41-45.
The Georgian style architecture included Bottocino marble elevator lobbies,
reception areas with limestone walls and stone base, wood wainscot,
chair rail, and intricate crown molding. Crotch mahogany raised office
door panels with egg and dart molding and mahogany wall panels were
installed to compliment glass office fronts. Wood and plaster coffered
ceilings were used to create a nice balance through the executive foyers.
Clad in stone and accented by a custom wrought iron railing, a monumental
staircase with floating intermediate landings adjoins the atrium
between the 43rd and 45th floors.
In contrast to the classic treatment given to the executive office space,
the 140 position trading floor was designed with a more contemporary
feel. Indirect lighting, raised access flooring, triangular shaped connecting
stairways, and an 8,000 SF data center are the primary components
of the space.
