Plaza Construction was awarded the project to demolish the old Beth Israel Hospital across from Gracie Mansion to construct a new building rising 19 stories. Designed by Peter Marino, the units are designed as luxury condominiums with multitude of custom features. The tower is 350,000 SF with 110 residential units from the 2nd thru the 19th floors. The apartments consist of 8-one bedrooms, 24-two bedrooms, 73-three bedrooms, 1-four bedroom, and 4-five bedrooms.

This condominium is virtually two towers with precast slab and column covers in filled with a full height glass and aluminum window wall system, interconnected by an aluminum curtain wall system on both the east and west facades of the building.

The existing hospital buildings were demolished to clear the site for the new structure. An extensive pre-construction planning effort ensured an effective transition from demolition to the foundation and superstructure phases. As part of pre-construction, the client elected for Plaza to re-use the existing foundation walls and footings, allowing for the building to be constructed within the existing foot print. This shortened the schedule by three months and provided a considerable cost savings.

The building sets back at the 6th, 8th and 12th Floor, in addition to a full roof area above the 19th Floor, which provides out door terrace areas for recreational activities. A family center and squash court is located at the first floor. An open court yard at the first floor level in the rear of the building with a landscape of trees and a waterfall provides an atmosphere of tranquility.

Building features include:
• A richly appointed lobby of hand-finished mahogany and stone flooring
   with an open atrium.
• Premium hardwood floors in each apartment
• Custom designed kitchen cabinets with granite countertops and
  stainless steel appliances.
• Dimensional stone bathroom floors and walls with custom designed
bathroom vanities and Kohler plumbing fixtures.
