Plaza Construction Celebrates 25 Years

New York, NY – November 10, 2011 – Plaza Construction today celebrated its 25th Anniversary as one of the nation’s leading construction firms.  Ranked as the eighth largest construction company in the New York metropolitan region, Plaza Construction marked its celebration with an open house event at its new headquarters at 1065 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. More than 500 guests joined Plaza’s executives and employees to recognize and celebrate this milestone.

Plaza Construction was originally created a quarter century ago solely to service Fisher Brothers properties.  It has since grown into a robust, independent business that performs more than $1 billion of work annually across the country.  Today, the Plaza portfolio extends to Washington, DC; Miami; Los Angeles; New Jersey and Texas.  In New York City, Plaza has left a lasting mark on the city’s skyline – from the Random House building to the core-first construction of 11 Times Square.  Plaza has completed projects across all industry sectors including education, healthcare, hospitality/residential, infrastructure/transportation, municipal/cultural, retail, interiors and commercial/mixed use developments.

1986:              Owner/Builder primarily focuses on tenant spaces within Fisher Brothers’ portfolio

1994:              Plaza expands outside of the Fisher portfolio and begins to service commercial interiors & infrastructure projects throughout New York City

1995:              Plaza awarded NYU Dorm project launching third party Core & Shell Construction

2001:              Plaza participates in Ground Zero clean-up efforts in association with Turner Construction on North East Quadrant

2003:              Plaza Awarded Astoria Energy project a 500 MW power plant establishing a foothold on large infrastructure assignments

2003:              Plaza opens Miami office

2004:              Plaza completes Random House commercial/mixed use building including, corporate interiors and residential construction, building a steel base and concrete tower structure inclusive of the first mass tuned damper in North America

2005:              Plaza awarded Shops at Atlas Park launching a large scale retail project lifestyle shopping center in Queens                              

2006:              Plaza awarded 11 Times Square and builds consensus among labor unions for the first concrete core first construction lagged by steel erection in New York City

2007:              Plaza’s annual dollar volume exceeds $1 Billion

2008:              Plaza named by ENR as the 51st largest Construction Manager in the nation

2008:              Plaza successfully bids public work establishes a presence in the government/institutional, K-12 education, and transportation markets with Fulton Transit Center, Maspeth High School, Spring Creek HS/IS, and Mariners Harbor Public Library, to name a few.

2009:              Plaza opens Washington, DC office to spearhead mid-Atlantic projects; Los Angeles office serving New York based companies and expands its network to secure local clientele

2010:              Plaza opens Houston office

2011:              Plaza opens new corporate headquarters in Manhattan and celebrates 25 years of Building Value with Vision
