The Shops at Atlas Park
Atlas Terminals is a 25-acre industrial park in the Glendale section of Queens, NY, dating back to the early 20th century. ATCO Properties & Management, which has owned the property for 80 years, launched a comprehensive redevelopment of a 12-acre portion of the site, resulting in an extraordinary public space with 310,000 square feet of retail space, 90,000 square feet of office space, a movie theater and a 650-car multi-level garage.
Create Queens' first and only contemporary mixed-use "lifestyle" center. Through the carefully coordinated efforts of a variety of players, The Shops at Atlas Park is now an inviting retreat of whitewashed architecture amid open-air terraces, walkways, cafés and boutiques.
In order to effectively manage a myriad of designers and achieve our client's goals, we broke this large, complex project into standalone components. Of the site's 23 buildings, 16 were completely or partially demolished. Four were renovated, and two (including a boiler plant) continue to serve the property. Additionally, three new buildings were constructed.
The Shops at Atlas Park won New York Construction’s 2005 New York Tri-State Top 40 Projects.
